Last weekend I camped at Big Heart Lake, at the end of the West Fork Foss River Trail, just beyond Skykomish.

The trail is in good shape, and the WTA was out working to make it better. There were a couple of patches of snow on the trail between Little Heart and Big Heart Lakes, but probably gone by now. Either way, it was easy to get around. If you plan to continue on to Chetwoot Lake, expect to see more lingering snow.

The main problem was the bugs; the late winter means it's been late clearing out the bugs and they are out in full force at Big Heart. Based on our conversations with other campers, they appeared to be bad at Copper Lake as well.  Take adequate protection, many had the 'bug bucket' hats on.
