Some recent news from around the Puget Sound area: - Cayuse Pass is now open, meaning the entire route through the east side of Mt Rainier National Park (Hwys 410 and 123) is open. Chinook Pass, farther along 410, is projected to open next weekend. See this map for a good view of the roads in the area.
- In other Mt Rainier news, the Westside Road, the gravel road open to cars for about 3 of its 10 miles just beyond the Nisqually Entrance in the southwest corner of the park, is closed indefinitely due to a massive rockfall that totaled an unoccupied car.
- The largest and most popular campground on the Mountain Loop Highway - Gold Basin -is closed while the landslide risk is assessed.
- There's been some re-paving on a portion of the Preston-Snoqualmie Trail.
- SDOT and WSDOT both have good blog posts on the recent improvements on the bike trail between South Atlantic and South King Streets near 99.
