Mt St. Helens Climbing Report - October 22nd, 2011

posted Oct 22, 2011, 12:15 PM by Luke Hizer
The peak climbing season for St. Helens is winding down and on November 1st, climbing permits are unlimited and free. Current conditions suggest that the snow is starting to fall in the higher elevations:

Climbers can expect new snow along the climbing route. Snow at 7000 ft. and significant accumulation at higher elevations. Please use caution on the boulder fields as snow can make climbing difficult.

Climbers are still using the Monitor Ridge (summer route), at some point, the winter route will be the only approach. For more information and most recent conditions, see the full climbing report.
