It's been a while since we've seen what's new down at Mt Rainier, here's the latest: - The last closed road - Mowich Lake - is scheduled to open on Friday. Full road report here.
- For the more adventurous, the Mt Rainier Climbing Blog has route conditions.
- The Park has selected a plan for restoring access via the Carbon River Entrance for cars about 1.2 miles to the Old Mine Trailhead; Ipsut Creek campground would become a hike-in/bike-in. Read the full plan here.
- Some information and links to the new Camp Muir web cam. I'll get a link up in sidebar soon.
- Several new updates on the Backcountry Conditions page:
- The Northern Loop trail is starting to melt out, about 40% snow covered overall
- There's still 5ft of snow at Eunice Lake
- Comet Falls Trail is still icy and dangerous; ice ax is recommended
- The lower segment of Rampart Ridge Trail is melted out, but standing water, upper portion 65% covered
- Laughingwater Creek Trail is clear of snow for 5 miles.
- Still 10ft of snow at Paradise
- The White River area still has a lot of snow
- The Wonderland has a ways to go before it melts out
