Regarding last week's post about Chinook and Cayuse Pass openings, it appears the timeline was a little ambitious.  The latest Mt Rainier road status updates show Cayuse opening on May 8th, and Chinook delayed due a washout and slide:

SR 410/123 (Cayuse Pass) North boundary to south boundary
CLOSED for the season. Estimated to open May 8. Opening delayed due to weather conditions.

Commercial vehicles prohibited at all times. For more information, check the

Washington State Dept. of Transportation or call 1-800-695-ROAD (7623) toll-free statewide or 206-DOT-HIWY (368-4499) in the greater Seattle area.
SR 410 (Chinook Pass)
CLOSED for the season. Estimated to open TBA. Expected opening delayed due to slide/washout blocking the road at MP 88.4 (Bumping River Rd). Opening is weather dependent.
Commercial vehicles prohibited at all times. For more information, check the Washington State Dept. of Transportation or call 1-800-695-ROAD (7623) toll-free statewide or 206-DOT-HIWY (368-4499) in the greater Seattle area.

WSDOT shows Chinook opening just in time for Memorial Day on the 25th.
