Mt Rainier National Park Trails and Backcountry Camp Conditions - August 16th, 2010

A few updates on Mt Rainer conditions from the Parks Service:

Summary

 


Most trails in the Paradise area are snow-free. The upper part of the Skyline Trail still has some snow, but these areas are wanded. Please stay off fragile medows. WILDFLOWERS are yet to bloom in large numbers due to late melt-out this season. Call Paradise rangers at 360-569-6036 for updates.

Glacier Basin Trail

Patchy snow

The first mile of the re-route is finished. Please use the summer route. The trail crew is doing hazardous work on the new trail... please stay on the flagged route. Bear activity in this area. Please store food properly.

Glacier Basin Camp #5/1 (5965')

Bear activity in the camp. Food canister recommended. NOTE: Do not leave anything behind when you vacate the camp. Personal items attract bears. Any items left will be removed by Rangers.
