Update from the Forest Service, does not seem like an ideal time to climb: Climbing conditions at this time are sub-par. We are in a spring cycle,
melting during the day, and freezing up at night. The snow surface is
dirty and sun cupped, this is having a negative effect on skiing and
glissading. Later in the day there is the chance of Ice and Rock fall.
This ice and rock fall is mostly confined to the upper parts of the
mountain. You can reach the nine thousand foot level of the south side
without touching snow. Or you can stay on the little snow that is left
on the hill. There is a snow route from the snow cat parking to about
nine thousand feet. |
