Highlights: Northern Loop report: Snow-free from the Carbon River until just below Yellowstone Cliffs. Yellowstone Cliffs camp is snow-free. Mostly snow-free from there until just below Windy Gap. Windy Gap area is 95% snow-covered. Finding the trail heading east from Windy Gap is difficult. 75% snow cover until tree line, then snow-free all the way to Grand Park. 9 downed trees between Lake James and the West Fork of the White River, the largest being 2 feet in diameter. West Fork bridges are IN. 6 downed trees between the West Fork and the Fire Creek junction. 6 downed trees in Fire Creek camp, 3 in the group site. All sites melted out. Grand Park is melted out and flowers are blooming. Trail is snow-free from Grand Park until below Berkeley Park and then is patchy snow increasing to 99% snow just before Frozen Lake. The Westside Road is snow-free the entire length. Glacier Basin Trail: Snow-free until the junction with the Burroughs Mountain trail, then snow-covered. Please use the summer route near which is wanded and well-tracked. The trail crew is doing hazardous work on the new trail... please stay on the flagged route. Bear activity in this area.
