Eliot Glacier crossing on the Timberline Trail to be repaired, open by 2017

The Mt Hood National Forest announced that they will re-route the Timberline Trail - the 40-mile loop around Mt Hood - at the Eliot Crossing to make it a safer, more permanent crossing. The prior route had been damaged in 2006 and several other times by debris flows. It should open in 2017, depending on weather conditions.

Note that a section of the trail remains closed at Eliot Creek due to that same 2006 debris flow. See the trail map for the closure area.
