Some biking notes from around the area:
  • The 65th St cycle track - a short connector between the Burke-Gilman trail and Magnuson Park - is now open. No more riding on the busy road, the track is completely separated from traffic so it's safe for children and other less-experienced riders. The location

And a couple photos:

  • The 'missing link' in the I-90 trail is getting more attention as construction starts on upgrades to the West Lake Sammamish, be aware of the detours if you ride that way.

  • If you ride the Centennial Trail in Arlington, there will be long-term construction on 67th, consider the detour described in this post from Cascade.

  • Evergreen is developing mountain bike trails in Tacoma. From their email:

It's official...Evergreen has been given the green light to create the first new trails open to mountain bikers in the Tacoma metropolitan area in decades at Swan Creek Park. These will also be the first-ever trails built by mountain bikers for mountain bikers in the Tacoma metropolitan area!

Swan Creek Park is a 373 acre site located just a few miles southeast of downtown Tacoma. Fifty forested acres have been set aside for the development of mountain bike trails.

The current Phase 1 plan calls for approximately 1.5 miles of XC trails suitable for beginners, families and intermediate riders (think Bootcamp trail at Duthie), and another .5 miles of intermediate-level trail that can all be ridden as one loop. Plus a technical skills progression area with skinnies, steep chutes, drops and jumps.
